What Is Purpose? by Franky Ekwebelam

Purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. I watched a movie early this year called creed II (Michael B Jordan and Sylvester Stallone), the antagonist in the movie Ivan Drago challenged Adonis Johnson (Micheal B Jordan) to a boxing match, the best scene in that movie was when Sylvester Stallone who was Adonis Johnson trainer asked him why he wanted to fight him, and he didn’t have an answer.

If you have a pulse you have a purpose; the main reason many have failed in life is because they have not clearly found purpose let alone define purpose.

MAN LIVES FOR PURPOSE!

No man can exist without purpose. The first journey a man must travel is the journey to find purpose, without purpose a man will live a life under-fulfilled. Imagine playing a football match without a goal post, that match can last forever, you can never understand the fulfillment that comes from scoring a goal, that’s exactly how our lives are, sadly many people even at 40 have not found purpose.

The danger of living without purpose is that you will know what you want. Yes! I mean even a fool knows what he wants, so stop raising that chin, saying “I know what I want” **mimicking u right now** but do you know what you should be doing? When a man does not know what he should be doing he can run around the earth, activity without accomplishment.

Definition and how to find Purpose.

WITHOUT PURPOSE, YOU ARE AIMLESS

It’s so easy to know when you have not found purpose, First, you don’t find any good reason to get up and go. Second, when you hear a man say anything to pay the bills, I just go gaga like Larry gaga! Is your purpose in life to pay bills? **who did this to you** I need a meme for this.

People are inventing cars and computers, some people are even inventing chewing stick, Haba!!! **forming mumsy now**, the village people are at work. Oya! no vex continue paying bills. “Activity without purpose is the drain of your life” – Tony Robbins

Colonel Harland Sanders founded KFC in 1952 at the age of 65, when most people are looking at slowing down and retiring. The question was why it took him that long to find purpose; what he was supposed to be doing. He was even lucky, he might have gotten the answer in the grave.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you” – Maya Angelou

How do we deal with this? First, you have to be deliberate about finding purpose. Most times it lies outside passion, while for some people purpose can be found in the path of passion. “If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.” – Bishop T.D Jakes

FIGURE OUT YOUR PURPOSE

May I warn that this is sometimes true for some people, while for others its entirely wrong because passion can be created but purpose is your primary duty.

So it’s easy for you to create a passion for yourself that has nothing to do with your purpose in life, therefore, it’s more important to be deliberate about finding purpose.

Purpose is usually inside of you, there is always something that when you do you find a sense of peace. Some times you might not be so passionate about it, sometimes it might look like a virtue or perhaps a character or may be a habit hence the reason most people don’t notice it and make the mistake of calling it some other name because they can’t define it.

Usually when you find purpose, you can’t define it immediately, that’s because you have to first find purpose, then define that purpose, then align that purpose with passion, then buy me a cold beer. 😉

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards”

Once you find purpose you will no longer be confused, it will then be so easy connecting the dots. Steve Jobs once said “You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards”. When you have a reason to do something, you will do it without being motivated, you would not settle for what you want, you will settle for what you deserve.

Purpose changes everything.
